After graduating from Loughborough College of Art and Design, Hazel established her business in 1985 and built an enviable reputation for bold, strong, colourful design.
Phil was a Theatre, TV and film actor for many years, but for the past 20 years, they have worked as partners in the jewellery business.
Today Hazel’s work can be seen in over 200 galleries and independent retailers throughout the U.K. She designs and makes bespoke jewellery, and has made pieces for theatre, T.V. and Film.
Hazel’s work has evolved through a painstaking process of experimentation and elimination. Using various dying, printing and painting techniques to finally produce a collection of strong vivid colours and intricate patterns.
Each piece of Hazel Atkinson contemporary aluminium jewellery is designed, dyed and hand crafted in Hazel’s Nottinghamshire workshop. All earrings are fitted with Sterling silver hooks and the pendants are supplied with a 18 inch (45.72 cm) silver chain or coloured wire choker.
Hazel and Phil are also musicians in the band ‘Magic Car’ they regularly gig around the Midlands and are signed with Tiny Dog Records.
Aluminium and Tin are used as symbols to celebrate Tenth Wedding Anniversaries!
